On Feb 28th Wellington College is to hold a Goal Setting Day. This is an extremely important day in the life of the College and it will assist you in making the most of 2012. There will be no timetabled classes on this day.

The day will involve parents/caregivers and students in a 45min goal setting session with the Form Teacher.

It is important to book your appointment time as soon as possible.

Students using a Snapper Red, Snapper Sprat, Snapper Mini or Snapper USB (i.e. NOT Green Snappers or Snapper Student IDs) will need to renew their student concession before the end of February. Details of how to do this are available on the Snapper website.

The parents/guardians of the Gateway class of 2012 are strongly encouraged to accompany their son to this important meeting.

At Wellington College, we place a strong emphasis on staff professional learning. On Fridays there is no assembly, form period or staff briefing, so that a space is created in the timetable for staff to meet together to reflect on their teaching and discuss new ideas. The buses operate at the normal times and students are encouraged to continue to catch these buses in order to ensure they are at school on time.

Tuesday 24 January: Interviews for Year 13 students who need to confirm courses.

Wednesday 25 January: Interviews for Year 12 students who need to confirm courses.

Thursday 26 January: Induction for all Years 10-13 students who are new to the school in Firth Hall at 10am.

Friday 27 January: Staff Only Day (meet in Staff Room at 9am)

Monday 30 January: All Years 10 to 13 students report at 10am.

Tuesday 31 January: Powhiri for Year 9 and all other new students and their families in College Hall at 8:50am. Please report to the Terraces.

Wednesday 1 February: Day 1 timetable for all students starts at 8:50am.

At Wellington College students are responsible for coming to class on time with all the equipment needed for each lesson. Please download the stationery list for your level, work out what is required for the subjects you are studying and take the form with you to the Bursary when you purchase your stationery.

The New Zealand Qualifications Authority has released the 2011 NCEA results online. To access your results you will need your National Student Number (NSN) and your NZQA password. If you have forgotten your password, you will be able to reset it through the NZQA website.  If you get completely stuck, the friendly team at NZQA will be able to help you out through their toll-free number - 0800 697296.

If you have failed to meet the prerequisites for your 2012 courses or you wish to make changes, you must meet with your Dean to discuss your modified programme.  For 2012 Year 13 students, these interviews will be taking place on Tuesday 24th January and for Year 12 students on Wednesday 25th January.

We have introduced a new system for stationery sales for 2012 in conjunction with OfficeMax.

From the middle of December we encourage you to order your son(s) Back to School Stationery online at www.myschool.co.nz/wgtncoll. Stationery lists for each year group will be available at the site. You can also order in-store, by Freephone, Freefax and Freepost – see the website for details.

The delivery date can be selected at the time of ordering and the payment is not processed until the order is despatched. Any order placed before 18 January 2012 is guaranteed to be delivered to you before school starts.
